Placed on the crest between
the Lake
Monate and the plain that goes to the Lake Maggiore, it
has one of the finest and very popular beaches of the lake.
Its origin goes back to the
Bronze Age as evidence the finds of pile dwelling settlements
at Sabbione and Pozzolo hamlet. The inhabitants did the hunt,
the fishing, the farming and the weaving. The vegetable
rests, such as hazel, cornel, acorn and blackberry make one think
that also the crop of natural products was present. The finds
of fusion moulds, crucibles, nozzles, probably testify some working
of the bronze. The great amount of tools such as spools and weights
from looms, make one suppose some weaving activity.
In the Liber Notitae Sanctorum
Mediolani by Goffredo from Bussero it is written that in Cadrezzate,
at the end of the XIII century, there was a church dedicated to
Santa Margherita and All the Saints. So, the today parish church
would be dated back to that time.
