It rises between the Arno stream and the Olona river, on the hills in the
back of Gornate Olona and Castelseprio and is surrounded by meadows
and woods.
The course of its history is all in one with that of Castelseprio.
It seems that some banished Castelseprio inhabitants just settled
in Carnago and made this village flourishing. In 1582 Carlo Borromeo
transfered the provostship from the Castelseprio's Church of San
Giovanni Evangelista to the Church of San Martino in Carnago,
that preserves a XV century fresco coming from the Church of Santa
Maria Foris Porta in Castelseprio.
At the Carbonolo hamlet, there is Milanello, the sport centre
of Milan footbal team.
