Casalzuigno
Formed by the union of the two village of Casale and Zuigno, it
is a quiet holiday resort, at the foot of the Mount Nudo and not
far from the Lake Maggiore..
In its Municipality there is the Della Porta Bozzolo Villa,
donated to FAI in 1989 by the heirs of the last owner, the Senatore
Bozzolo.
It is a typical Lombard villa, built in the 16th century as country
residence then transformed into a holiday home. Due to Gian Angelo
Della Porta III, is the splendid Italian garden with the scenographic
effects of the descending terraces crowded with statues, fountains
and balustrades in Viggiù stone. The interior of the villa
was splendidly frescoed during the decades that followed.
At Aga there is the Church of San Bernardino (XII century)
with a triangular bell tower and a XV century frescoes.
Another well-known hamlet of Casalzuigno is Arcumeggia,
a painted town.
