
Probably, its name takes rise to the Gaulish tribe of the Corogennates, cited in a Roman inscription.
In front of the parish church dedicated to San Giorgio there are the rests of a defensive tower likely of Roman age.
With Cimbro, Cuvirone, Sesona and Vergiate is part of the town of Vergiate. It has a beautiful communal beach, with panorama on the surrounding lake and hills. At the extremity of the lake, we can see birds such as the real germano, the tarabusino, the water hen and the tufted duck.
