Placed at the northern side of the Lake of the same name. In the last century, it was a famous holiday resort and it was linked to Varese by a railroad. In Summer, there was boat-race and a crowd of skaters amused themselves on the iced surface of the lake, in Winter.
To see:
- the old liberty station of the tramline Varese-Luino, made by the same Sommaruga that projected the Campo dei Fiori railway station and the Grand Hotel.
- the ancient Pavoni hammer (XV-XVI century), at the end of Via delle Chiuse, on the left of the provincial road, put in motion by the Margorabbia stream
- the parish church of S. Cristoforo Martire, built on a preceeding oldest church
