Laveno Mombello is the main tourist town on the Lombard shore of the Lake Maggiore, favoured by its mild climate and the beauty of its landscape, and one of the most important tourist resorts of the lake.

At the foot of the Mount Sasso del Ferro (1063 mt), where the lake shapes a broad gulf, Laveno Mombello stands. The municipality has been set up by the union of the built-areas of Laveno, Mombello Lago Maggiore and Cerro Lago Maggiore in 1927.

The oldest inhabitants lived in a Neolithic pile dwelling settlement at the hill 'la Torbiera' in Mombello; Laveno and Cerro seem to be more recent. In addition to Laveno, Mombello and Cerro, the town includes other urban centres such as Ceresolo and Ponte and is surrounded by hill-side villages such as Cascine, Monteggia, Montecristo, Brena and Casere offering a picturesque view of the lake.

In 1856 was been established in Laveno the ceramics factory known in all the world as Richard Ginori or Pozzi Ginori.

In Cerro, on the southern part of Laveno, there is a beautiful lakeside promenade and "La Civica Raccolta di Terraglie" , a museum of artistic pottery, created in 1893.

Other tourist attractions is the submerged Cristmas crib that every year is placed in the lake, close to the promenade, as well as the fireworks in August.
