Monteviasco is a beautiful village with a splendid view on the Veddasca
Valley and the Lake Maggiore, but without road connection with
the rest of the World.
Today, a 5 minutes cableway brings you from Ponte di Piero to Monteviasco
but until 1985, only a 1400 steps mule-track led to the village. The mule-track
starts with a chapel in memory of the blessed cardinal Schuster's visit
and ends at the Sanctuary of Madonna della Serta, close to the
village.
Once in the village, only the daily life noise of the few inhabitants is disturbing the peacefulness of the narrow alleys with the houses close together.
The church dedicated to Santi Martino e Barnaba stands in the middle of this dream-like village, with its frescoes of the XVIII century.
