Vedano Municipio

Located at the foot of the last hills of Varese, on the border with the province of Como, still has extensive woods of chestnut tress, pines and birches.

The finding of fragments of pottery production would allow to trace the origins of Vedano to the Bronze Age, in the Canegrate pre-Roman civilization. The evidence of an Etruscan presence is the name "Tron" or "Trun" referring to a farmhouse overlooking the plain between Vedano and Venegono Superiore. The etruscan "Trun" indicated a stronghold placed on an hill.

Among the numerous emigrants, must be remembered Angelo Poretti, that worked in the railroads construction in Boemia, and on his retrun in 1877 founded at Induno Olona the brewery that still bears his name. The Poretti beer.

To see:

- San Pancrazio, about 1200, with frescoes of the XV-XVI century

- San Maurizio, current parish, built in 1618 where there was a little oratory

- San Rocco (1836) built by the survivors of the epidemic of cholera

- the Lazzaretto (1577) in memory of the pestilence that wiped out the population

- the Church della Vela or Maduneta, dedicated to Madonna Addolorata. Based on the square of the temple is a drum set with small octagonal bell tower.
