Built
on seven low hills between the near Lake Varese and the Campo
dei Fiori massif, it is called '"garden city " because
of its splendid 18th century villas with extensive gardens,
now public parks.
The Basilica of San Vittore with its Bell Tower, the Baptistry
of San Giovanni, as well as the Castel of Masnago, and the
villas are only some evidences of its millenary history.

Placed
on the ancient route leading from Milano to Angera, it was
an important village already in Roman Age. Its citizens' industrial
attitude spaced from textile industry to mechanic and aeronautic
one.

Well-known
in the Middle Age for the tanning of hide and skin, became
famous in the 16th century for the fustian manufacture. Its
growth in the 19th century was due to the cotton industry.
In 1948 some 'bustocchi' businessmen built
the Busto Airport at Cascina Malpensa, the present Malpensa
Airport.

It
was an important and rich agricultural village, seat of an
ancient market. In the 1900s changed in industrial and commercial
center.

was an agricultural center mainly taken up with silkworm growing
and seat of an important stock market. In the 19th century
devoped many industrial activities.

Seat
of important woollen industries, it's placed on a plateau
of heaths that overlooks the Ticino Valley.

It
stands where the Lake Maggiore becomes Ticino River and flows
towards the plain.
The first finds of the Golasecca culture have been discovered
not far away along the Light Blue River.

The
most populated town on the Lombard shore of the Lake Maggiore,
is today a well-known tourist resort. Every Wednesday a a
famous stall market fills the roads of the town since 1541.
